Fire element
Definition
Fire is one of the four elements that classify the twelve zodiac signs. The fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) form a triplet that shares an outward, expressive, action-oriented register. Fire is the element of intention reaching toward the world: it generates heat, light, and movement, and it moves before it deliberates. In a chart it marks where confidence walks first and asks questions afterward.
In context
If your chart has several planets in fire signs, you most likely experience the world as something to engage with rather than analyze first. Fire's strength is enthusiasm and direct expression; its blind spot is patience with what does not yet exist. A heavily fire-loaded chart still benefits from the earth element and the water element somewhere in the map to ground what fire opens and to soften what it pushes through.
To go deeper
Fire belongs to the fourfold elemental classification of the zodiac:
- Earth element: physical, slow, stabilizing.
- Air element: mental, social, communicative.
- Water element: emotional, intuitive, receptive.
